Scrims/tournament

Post by Fiddler on Thu Aug 25, 2011 11:05 pm

Hey all, I don't know whats been going on on fridays and saturdays but I just wanted to see if we're ready for some scrims or that tournament thing that someone was talking about a while ago. I probably won't be on this weekend because its my moms birthday tomorrow. We're going to the state fair which should be fun, load up on all of that fried food and buckets of cookies (yes, real buckets, though a little smaller than an ice cream bucket, still amazing). After this weekend and possibly next I don't know yet I should begin to have some time. I'd be willing to help set a tournament system up if needed, like figure out who's in, put them in teams, and then try and schedule some fights.

Haha, state fair was great. Super great food, got to see some cool stuff. My fav was this guy http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VPd-9K20mP8
he didn't play mandolin at the state fair (which I'm thankful for... he's not very good, just skip that part in the vid Very Happy) but he is pretty insane with the juggling/other tricks. He was juggling torches and knives at the show.

Re: Scrims/tournament

I Honestly dont know what to do about scrims. I talked to Lake the other day and he will not be available friday and sat nights. With school i m not sure how well it would work out trying to do them during the week. I would like to keep them on weekends. I am sure that if Lake will not be around for the weekends that someone else would be able to help me run them. I would really like to get back into scrims very much. So if the admins can help me out and give me a little bit of direction on what to do as far as Lakes inability to be available on the weekends it would help out a lot.

Raven just go ahead and find someone that you can work with and let them help you out with the scrims. We have had so much voting and back and forth with it and when we get someone voted in they end up not being able to fulfill the duty and this is at least 3 times that it has been this way. No sense in them wasting our time setting up the vote poll and getting them all lined up and then they just go inactive. You are the scrim leader and thats official because you were voted in by the Clan and thats a good thing. Pick someone and it will just be an un-official 2nd IC position for them and if they do well and stick it out we will make them the official 2nd IC later on. How does that sound to you? I would like to see the scrims going again. Seems like we had some good member participation during those times. Also, did Treason ever get back to you with his IP address? I have his guid already. Thanks

Lol I was wondering what the 2nd IC does too... I might be able to help. Remember when after Raven had gone off the radar we just had any admin who was on set the server up? What if we just did that with the 2nd IC, except we just have Raven or whoever else who knows train a few people on how to do the job and then even if the 2nd IC was gone someone else could fill in.

Only members who are Mods or Supers that have rcon can set up a server for scrims so 2nd IC is just to help organize and they necessarily need to have rcon unless they are already a Mod or Super.

Lake doesn't have rcon though... I think I remember someone saying something about this. But really, wouldn't it not be completely necessary to have a 2nd IC because its just a backup position? I'm not an expert but it doesn't seem to be too much work to get the server set up and get an inclan going.

There is actually a lot of work in setting up scrims. But the only thing I really need is for someone to take screen shots and post like a commentary on how it went. And yes Huntdog you will be able to participate.

Fiddler, to set up and get an inclan going. You have to have rcon in order to lock down servers, restart maps so forth and so on. The 2IC does not have to have rcon because the duties that they have does not include setting up the server. Hope this clears up any confusion.

Re: Scrims/tournament

Post by Fiddler on Sat Aug 27, 2011 7:22 pm

Oh well thats pretty easy for the 2IC. I don't know if everyone knows this because I was talking to a few people on TS and they didn't but you can take screenshots through CoD by pressing f12. You don't need xfire. The files go into your main/screenshots folder (sometimes depending on which server you're on it will create a new folder not in main and put the screenshots there).
I understand about setting up the servers and stuff, it just sounded like you were saying the 2IC needed rcon.
As far as taking the screenshots/posting on the forum, I could do that but I can't guarantee that I'll always be there. It seems to me that most people have the same issues.
As a side note, I should be on tonight if we want to have an inclan. Even though everything may not be straightened out we could still have one.

Actually I think most everyone knows how to take a screen shot by pressing F12 or at least everyone I have talked with does. Still dont think I have been able to get you to understand what I am talking about in setting up a server Fid but thats ok. Dont worry about being a 2IC because I could not handle the stress in trying to communicate with you big guy. No offense just business. God bless you partner.

As long as nothing major happens I will at least be on either Friday or Saturday until whenever... We've been doing a lot of "Labor Day Take Back Our Highways" overtime so I may try to get some ot while I can. Seeing how I got some school loans to payoff. Maybe I will be able to work early and play late.

Oh my. I just dropped 3000 pair of women's underwear on a stretch of highway in Lancaster Ohio and I refuse to tell where they came from lol.

J/K of course. Dont know if you guys saw that on the national news this morning but it actually did happen. The authorities are very confused as to where the drawers came from lol but really, it was NOT me folks. My guess is that it was some sorority in a college somewhere and it was some type of initiation.

hhahahahhaaa that is funny. I am just glad it isn't my stretch of adopted highway. Although I would have been set for under garments till I was 80. Shocked
