Nicaragua & Honduras

Post by [WoF]BG.Terminator on Tue Oct 18, 2011 10:27 am

My fellow CoD friends.... I am asking a special favor of you all. Please be in prayer for me and the rest of our missions team this month and through December 3rd. We are leaving for Nicaragua & Honduras on November 26th on a missions trip and will return on December 3rd. I am hoping you all can start praying early because we face many obstacles such as government bureaucracy, flight planning, supply planning, administrative planning, security arrangements, and construction materials. We have most everything we need, just need to shore it all up with prayer. Thanks all! We really appreciate it.

Termi.

I have been to Honduras a few times with the Army on Humanitarian missions. We went to San Pedro Sula for surgical support for the local community. It was a team of 11 Soldiers which included 3 ENT Doc's, 1 anesthesiologist, 1 CRNA, 2 OR Nurses, 1 speech pathologist and 3 Surgical techs(1 being me). We dealt the Cholesteotoma's and Tympanoplasty's and other inner ear diseases on adults and children. Myself and one of the docs were returning from lunch and ended up delivering a baby on the sidewalk outside of the clinic...... Fun stuff.

Have fun!!

Merc, that's where I was last year, San Pedro Sula. We did a major food drive and fed the river people, the people who live on the city garbage dump, and we delivered medicine to the Church of God clinic and police station, as well as the Cobra's compund. I got to shoot the Cobra's Galil at their local shooting range.

Sounds great Term. I'll be praying for you and your church group. I went on a couple of mission trips to Guatemala. I can remember trying to sleep at night with automatic gunfire going off in the distance. But God takes care of His own. We all got back safe and secure. A few of us got hit by Montezuma's revenge but other than that we were OK.

Good luck!
My local parish sends a medical relief trip to Nicaragua twice a year. There is a lot of planning as far as political turmoil and concerns.

Stay safe and God bless!!
