Mommabear said I could get a new comp in January if I was a good boy. I am used to a laptop and will stick with a laptop. I am looking seriously at this one. Let me know if there's a better one out there for the price.

Looks great... There are quite a few cons about the keyboard and it has no CD drive eject button. Obviously there is a way to do it it I think it is through a program.

Definately look at return or replacement policies on both sites. They are very strict.

Nice Laptop and that should do the trick partner but you could probably get one with as many good components for a much better price. I think that is pretty steep for a good laptop. Toshiba puts out a good laptop for half the cost but thats just my opinion. Hey its your dime lol.

the sony looks really nice Pun and I cld get a nice one for about 1200, but 8 gigs of ram is as high as i cld go on ram, 1gig on graphics and 750 on HD. The screen is only 16 inches too. Right now u can get one with a free headset and a free battlefied game for 999. Sony is sweet, but Im set on 17in screen 16g ram, and that 1.5gig 570 graphics card. might even go with a 1 tb HD which will be dual 500g 7200rph sata. The MSI gamer is a desktop with wheels
it also has a 3 year warranty in case i spill my ole spit cup.
Best part about it is that mommabear is buying it for daddybear either in jan or early feb. If you guys find a better deal on the MSI, let me know.
I've looked at asus and alienware but they just dont touch the MSI

Don't buy Alienware, it's way too overpriced.

I previously owned the ASUS G73 Republic of Gamers laptop, but there were way too many problems with it. As I continue to read about the newer ones, they still have the same problems with overheating and such.

My opinion overall? If you're going to use it for gaming, buy a desktop computer. Laptops are not made for gaming, although they may be called "gamer" laptops. They all overheat very quickly.

I sold my laptop and bought a desktop (in which I have now upgraded some parts) and I can't be happier. It never overheats, even while playing the latest games on max settings.

If you really need a laptop for other things while on the go, I suggest buying a good desktop and a weaker laptop. You should be able to get a pretty decent laptop for around $300-$500.

As for the desktop, if you know how or if you have a friend who knows how, build it yourself. It's the cheapest way and you get the best computers that way.

i agree with Romanian. i build my desktop myself about a year ago and i'm happy with it. so build it yourself for 1000$ and you can send the rest of money to me. and im not a computer geek its really simple.

Anyway you can build a desktop and if you realy want a taplot just have to sell your tricycle and you will have both

Frank, Maingear has some pretty good computers (I will hopefully own one in the future).

Go to www.maingear.com and customize your own PC just to see how you like it. I think they are offering free games with some purchases.

I could build one easily....I've dug in computers for years from adding memory, changing processors,power supplies, graphic cards and changed a screen on my sons laptop last year, east stuff. Just added 2 gigs of ram to my lil girls comp on Christmas Day. I'm just used to playing cod from a laptop. the one i have now has plenty of power to play cod with 4 gigs of ram, 2.4 intel core duo and half a gig of graphics but the daggum thing keeps keyboard freezin on me in game play and I have to reboot to correct it. I'm thinking serious about a desktop, but i'm used to a laptop and sometimes i go portable on the back patio and of course travel alot.

You can easily play CoD1 on a cheap laptop. Like I said, you can get a very good desktop and a decent laptop for the prices you were looking at.

Awesome machine there Unc. I have got to get another bike one of these days. The more I hear you talk about your riding adventures on yours the more I miss my Yamaha - Venture Royale. My wife and I would take some pretty long rides on it up in the Smokey mountains. It had a good size trunk on it with two side boxes and a double seat with cushioned back rest. Cruise, tilt handle bars, windshield, stereo, built in como for the helmets. It was LOOAAADDDED and rode like a cadi. Had some lovely times on it. I am getting the fever again for sure.
