Whats awesome is that they were talking about how difficult this was and how much it cost. It was compared to Golf and paying 1.6 billion dollars for 1 golf ball and hitting it from a tee in london trying to make a hole-in-one in in Dublin, Ireland. And if you didn't get a hole-in-one the 1.6 Billion was just gone. Maybe they will find oil and get these gas prices down.

We have more oil than we know what to do with here in America. Their saling it to other countries because of 100+ dollars a barrel. Jesus come quickly.I dont understand why all the hype about mars. You would be an old man before you could make it to the planet and die before ya could get back.Just another way of wasting money.I pray Obama will step up and take his family there to see if it is Livable.

Oh and what makes the shadow on the bottom pic. How could a small peice of machinary make such a big shadow that far away?? at least it looks man made.The shadow that is. takes up most of that side of the planet. Just curious.???

The shadow is from the rover itself, which is actually the size of a small car! The horizon and scaling look odd because it was taken with a fisheye lens, which allows a larger field of view at the expense of scaling distortion

And the circular shape is from the dust cap.. that's not the whole planet in the picture, just a small part of the ground right in front of the rover
