Im getting on the server

I am going to play some if anyone wants to go to the server. I am also on TS now.

Got kicked again with PB., Working on it now then back to server.

Yep, I am having issues and I just found out that PB does not support CoD1 or CoD2 anymore at all so there is some issue there. We may have to run the server without PB but when I update the server, its says that the server PB is up to date and so does my client side PB folder when I update it..

Anyway, I am having issues staying on the server. Anyone?

Well I was kinda right.. It's a server issue... Just it's the PB server not the game one...

Yep! Papi is on to something though. His link will install the original PB and it will run the CoD2 game client side without getting you kicked BUT, I was reading that there are hacks out there that can overtake the unsupported PB and we will not be able to kick them or PB will not kick them. This is definitley going to be a learning experience for us all I suppose.

I could just turn OFF PB on our server but that would really open the door for all the hackers and cheats.

Answer me this one question guys, WHY do people cheat on a game?

I mean really, I am not a cheat, cant say that I never lied in my life because God knows I have and he corrected praise the Lord, but I am not a cheat and more especially a cheat on some game.
I just dont get it fellows, its pretty sad actually!

Given that issue, I would say it might just be worth while to kill PB and let the admins handle the banning (like Cod 1).

I could see it becoming more of a issue as more updates come out. At least until a patch/fix can be found.

I agree with Vixen. Let's just go no PB. I think that was a huge issue for a lot of people when we tried v1.5. If you are new to a server and PB kicks you off, I bet 9/10 people won't come back and try again, they would just go to a different server.

If we have active admins and good reporting of suspected hackers by other clan members we should be able to keep it in check via rcon like most. I think that effort would be much less than constantly troubleshooting and dealing with punkbuster updates, issues, and people who get kicked for some unknown technical reason.

We should create a "report a player" section on the forum for people to post in, and maybe find a good in-game recording software that is easy to use so we can take killcam video and spec video of cheaters and file it away.

Hold those thoughts guys, I like em, and we might come back to doing just that before long however, I am fairly leery of being a new Clan server on the block and all the cheaters coming out to bust our server. Seen it happen before and many tried it on 1.3 when MsM first started out and 1.3 was tame compared to CoD2.

I do like the thoughts of running technical issue free without PB but, starting out I think we certainly need to keep all of the PB running on the server that we can UNTIL we get established and get some rcon operators in place and trained. Believe me, the cheats will come when the gates are down fellows, that is just the nature of the beast so to speak.

Still, we will certainly consider dropping PB AFTER we have seen the whole picture and what the server is going to run like with most guest.

I think we can stream or scroll PB links so a guest can download PB and it is really easy to set up once one has the right download, we can set up a scrolling PB info link too that will guide them to our forum and they will NOT have to register on the forum to see the full, simple instructions on installing PB.

Lets first try a more secure approach then after some server/rcon training time, we will take another look at a different route.
